The Cleveland Indians claimed outfielder Chad Huffman off waivers Friday from the New York Yankees and optioned him to Triple-A Columbus of the International League.

Huffman hit .274 with 20 doubles and 10 homers in 104 games with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, the Yankees' Triple-A affiliate.

Huffman, a 2007 Pacific Coast League All-Star and a 2006 second-round pick of the San Diego Padres, appeared in nine games with New York this season and went 3 for 18 with two RBIs and a run.
