How Phillies fared vs. Atlanta, San Francisco

The Phillies will play the Atlanta Braves or San Francisco Giants in the National League Championship Series, which opens Saturday at Citizens Bank Park.

* The Phillies won the season series, 10-8. The Braves won the final game of the season, 8-7, at Atlanta, when they needed a win to earn at least a tie for the wild-card berth. The Braves started ace Tim Hudson that day, while the Phillies started Vance Worley.
* The Phillies had three shutouts against the Braves. On April 21, Roy Halladay blanked the Braves at Atlanta, 2-0, pitching a five-hitter. On May 1, Jamie Moyer became the oldest pitcher to toss a shutout, stopping the Braves, 7-0. On Sept. 22, Roy Oswalt and two relievers shut out the Braves, 1-0, the final game of a three-game sweep at home.

* The season series was tied, 3-3, with each team winning twice at home and once on the road.
* Halladay took his first loss of the season at San Francisco on April 26, 5-1. Jonathan Sanchez outdueled him.
* Roy Oswalt beat the Giants on Aug. 24, 9-3.
* Cole Hamels had a no-decision in a 7-6 Phils win on April 28. He allowed four runs in six innings. Hamels was the losing pitcher on Aug. 19, 5-2. He allowed five runs in five innings. *
