Giants, Dodgers games both end on freak plays

Published May. 3, 2015 8:44 p.m. ET

Both the Dodgers and the Giants had games end on runners being hit by batted balls on Saturday. When the Angels’ Taylor Featherston was hit by a ball hit by teammate Matt Joyce with two outs in the ninth to give the Giants a victory, that was the first time since 2010 that a major league game had ended on that type of play. Of course, you might not expect to see such a play again for a while, but then it happened again in Los Angeles later that night. The Diamondback’s Jordan Pacheco was hit by a ground ball hit by teammate David Peralta to end that game in favor of the Dodgers.
