Gallardo to return for Brewers against Pirates

Published Jul. 17, 2010 7:29 p.m. ET

The Milwaukee Brewers expect All-Star Yovani Gallardo to come off the 15-day disabled list and start at Pittsburgh on Thursday.

Manager Ken Macha also says Chris Capuano is coming out of the bullpen to start Monday's series opener against the Pirates.

Macha is having to alter his rotation after left-hander Doug Davis was placed on the 15-day disabled list with tendinitis in his left elbow on Friday.

Gallardo is 8-4 with a 2.58 ERA as the Brewers' top starter. The right-hander was selected to the All-Star team, but couldn't pitch in the game due to a left oblique muscle injury.

Macha says right-hander Dave Bush and left-hander Randy Wolf will start on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively, at Pittsburgh.
