Dunn to miss 6th straight game with oblique strain

Published Sep. 12, 2012 7:45 p.m. ET

Chicago White Sox slugger Adam Dunn was not in the lineup Wednesday night against the Detroit Tigers, the sixth straight game he will miss because of a strained right oblique.

Dunn tried swinging a bat and realized he was not ready to return, saying he would try again for Thursday's finale of the key AL Central series. The first-place White Sox lead the Tigers by two games.

Dunn said he's afraid he might cause further injury and be lost for a longer period time. He's concerned about swinging and missing - something he does frequently.

Dunn leads the White Sox with 38 homers and said not being able to play in the stretch run for the playoffs is ''terrible.''
