De La Rosa activated by Rockies

Published Jul. 9, 2010 11:47 p.m. ET

The Colorado Rockies activated left-hander Jorge De La Rosa from the disabled list to start Friday night's game against the San Diego Padres.

De La Rosa made his fifth start of the season against San Diego. He was 3-1 with a 3.91 ERA before going on the disabled list April 27 due to an injury to his left middle finger.

Rockies manager Jim Tracy said ''there will be no restraints on him tonight. There will be no limits in terms of pitch count.''

De La Rosa was a career-best 16-9 a year ago when the Rockies made the playoffs.

To make room for him, the Rockies sent right-handed pitcher Esmil Rogers to Triple-A Colorado Springs. Rogers was 1-2 with a 4.85 ERA in six innings of relief with the Rockies.
