ST. LOUIS (AP) Chicago Cubs rookie third baseman Kris Bryant returned to the starting lineup for Friday's game at St. Louis, a day after experiencing flu-like symptoms.

Bryant, who is hitting .278 with 10 homers and 42 RBI, left Thursday's 4-0 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers after two innings.

Cubs leadoff hitter Dexter Fowler also returned to the starting lineup after missing three games because of a sore ankle sustained while running the bases on Monday against the Dodgers.

Fowler is hitting .238 with eight home runs and 22 RBI.

The Cubs announced that RHP Donn Roach will start Saturday at St. Louis. Roach is replacing Tsuyoshi Wada, who left his last start with shoulder tightness in the third inning.

Roach was 7-1 with a 2.29 ERA with the Triple-A Iowa Cubs.
