Chris Johnson set to return to Braves next Thursday

While reports earlier in the week indicated that Atlanta Braves third baseman Chris Johnson might return to the team this week, manager Fredi Gonzalez has announced that Johnson is now expected to rejoin the club next Thursday.
If all goes to plan, Johnson, who hasn't played since injuring his hand on Apr. 30, will rejoin the team for a three-game series in San Francisco against the Giants, which begins next Thursday, May 28.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Johnson will practice with the Braves over the weekend, and then head to one of Atlanta's minor-league affiliates for a three-day rehab assignment while the team travels to Los Angeles to play the Dodgers.
Then, Johnson will reconvene with the team in San Francisco with the hope that he'll be ready to play.
"We're going to give him probably a three-game stint someplace," Gonzalez said. "And then if everything goes well, he'll join us in San Francisco."
