Catcher Zaun, Brewers agree to one-year deal

The deal is worth $2.25 million, according to a major-league source.
Zaun, 38, chose the Brewers over the Rays and Mariners. He also had early interest from the Rockies, who are still trying to re-sign Yorvit Torrealba.
"They were the one team that stepped up immediately and made a financial offer the very first day," Zaun said. "They made it very clear to me that I was the guy they wanted. It wasn't contingent on a trade or something else. They made me feel very important."
The Brewers offered Zaun significant playing time — George Kottaras and Mike Rivera are the only catchers with major-league experience.
Zaun will receive a $500,000 signing bonus, a $1.4 million base salary and a $250,000 buyout if his option is not exercised.
The signing of Zaun was first reported by Yahoo.com.
