Brewers put Santana on DL; Mets activate Kelly Johnson
MILWAUKEE (AP) The Milwaukee Brewers placed outfielder Domingo Santana on the 15-day disabled list with right elbow soreness before Friday's game against the New York Mets, who activated recently acquired utility man Kelly Johnson.
For the Brewers, Santana's move was made retroactive to Wednesday. The right-handed hitter had come off the disabled list June 3 with a right shoulder injury. Manager Craig Counsell wasn't sure if the injuries were related.
Outfielder Keon Broxton was recalled from Triple-A Colorado Springs to replace Santana.
Johnson was acquired from Atlanta on Wednesday along with cash considerations in exchange for minor league pitcher Akeel Morris. Ty Kelly was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas to make room for Johnson.
Manager Terry Collins said Johnson will play different positions to help give regulars a break.
