Braves place Johnson on DL, recall Krol, activate Beckham

ATLANTA (AP) The Atlanta Braves have placed right-hander Jim Johnson on the 15-day disabled list with a right groin strain and recalled left-hander Ian Krol from Triple-A Gwinnett.
The Braves also activated infielder Gordon Beckham from the disabled list before Tuesday night's game against the Philadelphia Phillies. Outfielder Matt Tuiasosopo was designated for assignment after being with the team for one week.
Johnson, expected to be a top setup reliever, is 0-4 with a 7.90 ERA. He gave up a two-run homer to Chris Herrmann in the 11th inning of Sunday's 5-3 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Krol had a 4.38 ERA in 12 appearances at Gwinnett. He allowed only a .136 batting average against left-handed hitters, with 10 strikeouts and no walks in 6 1/3 innings.
Beckham missed 18 games with a strained left hamstring.
