Beltre out of lineup with hamstring strain

Published Jun. 2, 2013 2:13 p.m. ET

Texas third baseman Adrian Beltre is out of the starting lineup against Kansas City because of a mild left hamstring strain.

Beltre had an MRI that revealed the strain after Saturday's game against the Royals. Texas manager Ron Washington says Beltre could be back in the lineup against Boston on Tuesday night. The Rangers have an off day Monday.

Beltre aggravated his hamstring running the bases in the fourth inning. He stayed in the game before leaving at the start of the 10th inning. Jeff Baker is starting at third in Beltre's place.

Beltre is hitting .305 with 11 home runs and 34 RBIs. The three-time All-Star hit .376 in May with 23 RBIs.
