Bay Area-born Bob Melvin enjoying Warriors' deep playoff run

Oakland Athletics manager Bob Melvin is a born-and-bred Bay Area guy, so he's currently enjoying the miraculous season by his next-door neighbor Golden State Warriors (like everybody else, pretty much).
Though BoMel didn't attend the Warriors' Western Conference Finals-clinching win over the Houston Rockets on Wednesday night, a few A's players did.
Despite not being at the game, Melvin told Joe Stiglich of CSN Bay Area just how much this current run means to him, someone who attended a few playoff games back in 1975, the last season the Warriors won the NBA title.
As he told Stiglich: "I was a big Rick Barry fan. From Al Attles to Keith Wilkes, Charles Johnson, Phil Smith coming off the bench. It was a great team. There’s some similarities in (this year’s) team. I don’t know that any team is as deep as the Warriors are right now.”
As for his thoughts on Wednesday's win, which was arguably one of the biggest nights in the history of the franchise, Melvin offered this up: “I was growing up watching the Warriors since I was like 10 years old. (Wednesday) was a great night for Oakland.”
The NBA Finals begin on Thursday, June 4th at Oracle Arena in Oakland.
