A's Josh Reddick scratched with tooth issue

Published Aug. 15, 2012 8:25 p.m. ET

Josh Reddick was scratched from the Oakland Athletics' lineup Wednesday night against the Kansas City Royals because of complications from a tooth that was extracted on the team's off-day Monday.

Reddick, who leads the A's with 25 home runs and 60 RBIs, played Tuesday but went 0 for 4 and struck out three times.

In the revamped A's lineup, Jonny Gomes, who was to be the designated hitter, replaced Reddick in right field. Brandon Moss was inserted into the lineup, playing first.
