Los Angeles Angels rookie Mike Trout, the AL batting leader, did not start in Sunday's series finale against the Tampa Bay Rays because of a sore left knee.
The injury occurred in the third inning of the Angels' 3-0 loss on Saturday night, when Trout leaped against the fence in left-center field while trying to make a play on a home run by Ben Zobrist. He stayed in the game and went 0 for 4.
Trout entered Sunday hitting .350 with 16 homers, 33 RBIs a major league-leading 31 stolen bases following his promotion from Triple-A Salt Lake on April 28.
