All-Star Game Tweets: AL prevails

The All-Star Game is history . Ken Rosenthal, Jon Morosi and Batting Stance Guy Gar Ryness — who has taken over our MLB on FOX Twitter account for the occasion — were all on hand. Check out what they had to say and get the best sights, sounds and more from the game below.
Update: 11:25 p.m. ET
Joe Nathan closes the door as the AL wins 3-0.

When all-time saves leader Mariano Rivera entered in the
bottom of the eighth, the applause at Citi Field picked it up a
notch — as did Twitter comments.
Rivera, who is retiring at the end of the season, pitched a 1-2-3 inning as the AL headed to the ninth with a 3-0 lead.
Michael jordan was the Mariano Rivera of the NBA. #REALFINISHER

Baltimore's Adam Jones enjoyed the experience. Jones scored
the AL's second run — on a J.J. Hardy groundout in the fifth
inning.
I had the time of my life out on the field today. Thx #Birdland and all @mlb fans for all the love and votes. Truly humbled #ASG #StayHungry

Toronto slugger Jose Bautista played five innings before
being replaced by Texas' Nelson Cruz. Bautista went 0 for 1, but
knocked in the first run on a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning.
Looks like Joey Bats definitely had fun.
Excited to have helped out in the game tonight! The #ASG is always an unbelievable experience! Let's go #AmericanLeague get this win!

Bautista was also impressed by Baltimore third baseman Manny Machado, who made a sweet defensive play on a groundout by Paul Goldschmidt for the first out in the bottom of the seventh.
What a play from #Machado Que clase de jugada!! #ASG

So some bonehead ran on the field. Thanks to colinbarnicle,
here's the body slam that followed.
9:48 p.m.
The AL is out to a 2-0 lead after 4½ innings —
Miguel Cabrera scored on a Jose Bautista sacrifice fly in the
fourth and Adam Jones scored on a J.J. Hardy fielder's choice in
the fifth.
This pleases Boston center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury, whose Red Sox have the most wins in the majors.
Lets go fellas! Get that home field advantage for the AL! #AllStarGame

9:14 p.m.
NL starter Matt Harvey escaped a two-on, no-out jam in the
first after allowing a leadoff double to Mike Trout and then
hitting Robinson Cano.
Harvey didn't allow another baserunner and finished with two scoreless innings, while striking out three. He tweeted not long after leaving the game (referring to two videos below).
It was nice to be recognized in my home park tonight, not like on @jimmyfallon last night. #ASG

9:04 p.m.
Hall of Fame catcher Johnny Bench is watching — and
tweeting away (six tweets in last half hour).
Hall of Famer Tom Seaver threw out the first pitch.
The NL won the last three All-Star Games — and coincidentally the last three World Series. With Mets ace Matt Harvey getting the start, the Senior Circuit hopes to make it four in a row tonight at Citi Field.
If you didn't catch Harvey's bit on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon," this is a must see.
Before the game, FOX Sports' Erin Andrews had a short chat with Mets third baseman David Wright.
The AL's starting second baseman Robinson Cano of the Yankees was ready.
Proud to be a part of the AL team tonight! Lets win this #ASG
— Robinson Cano (@RobinsonCano) July 16, 2013
Sounds like POTUS will be watching.
All-Star Game tonight. AL or NL? #ASG

The last and only time the Mets hosted an All-Star Game was 1964, back when a good number of starters played the entire game.
The NL trailed by one heading into the bottom of the ninth when Willie Mays, who went 0 for 3, led off with a walk, stole second base and scored the tying run "in a cloud of dust" (see below video) on Orlando Cepeda's single.
Two outs later with two on, the Phillies' Johnny Callison hit a walk-off homer for a 7-4 NL victory. Here's the boxscore from baseball-reference.com.
