Abreu, Angels discuss playing time

Angels outfielder Bobby Abreu says he's satisfied he'll get enough playing time this season after meeting with Los Angeles manager Mike Scioscia.

Last week, Abreu told ESPNdeportes that the Angels should trade him if he is going to sit on the bench. However, before the Angels held their first full-squad workout of spring training Monday, Abreu met with Scioscia and general manager Jerry Dipoto. Abreu said he has not demanded a trade and that Scioscia has told him he ''will find a way to play me.''

Scioscia says he intends to use Abreu in right and left field as well as a designated hitter. Scioscia said Abreu may play ''a little less than he's used to'' but he's confident the 37-year-old will contribute in 2012.

Scioscia says he understands Abreu's position and has promised him 400 plate appearances.
