Report: Could key Alabama assistant be joining Kirby Smart at UGA?

Smart won't be sad in Georgia, as he's bringing along a good friend.

If the speculation is accurate and current Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart is indeed headed to Athens to become the next head coach at Georgia, he likely won’t be coming without one important fellow Alabama assistant. 

According to, Crimson Tide director of strength and conditioning Scott Cochran is expected to join Smart’s staff with the Bulldogs. 

Cochran has been with Alabama since head coach Nick Saban’s 2007 arrival and is credited as an integral member of the Tide staff, charged with player development and weight room success. Cochran efforts were even chronicled in this 60 Minutes piece:
