Watch a 16-year-old LeBron telling Kirk Herbstreit he wants to be the best in the NBA

LeBron James is having one of the best NBA Finals performances of any player, ever.

James and the depleted Cleveland Cavaliers are two wins away from pulling off an improbably upset of the Golden State Warriors.

But back in 2001, at the tender young age of 16, James sat down with former Ohio State quarterback and current ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit and talked about his goals for the future.

James told Herbstreit he wanted to be not only the best defender, best shooter, and best passer, but the best player in the NBA, period.

Needless to say, James' 16-year-old self was only foreshadowing what the sports world is witnessing today.

No doubt Buckeye fans wouldn't have minded seeing James on the gridiron as well.
