Ty Montgomery apologized to Aaron Rodgers after dropping deep ball

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Ty Montgomery had a chance to make a huge splash and put the San Francisco 49ers away early last week.

On the first play from scrimmage, quarterback Aaron Rodgers looked Montgomery's way on a deep pass but is was dropped. The rookie felt bad about the mishap, so he apologized to Rodgers when the offense reconvened on the sideline after that drive.

"I said, 'Hey, don't worry about it. I'm going to come back to you. You'll be fine,'" Rodgers said, per ESPN's Rob Demovsky. "He's a great kid. He does things the right way, cares about it a lot. I've said it before, the things that are frustrating are the mental mistakes because that is directly related to your preparation. That right there, that'll happen. The physical mistakes will happen. You have to be able to move on from those and give him some confidence."

Montgomery was able to rebound from the early mistake. He finished the game with three catches for 15 yards. He also carried the ball twice for 10 yards, as the young receiver showed off a bit of his versatility.

"I can definitely bounce back," said Montgomery, via ESPN. "I think I caught everything else that came my way the rest of the game."

With second-year receiver Davante Adams dealing with an ankle injury, the Packers need Montgomery to keep progressing and contributing as much as he can.
