Thomas Davis on losing Luke Kuechly: 'You've got to turn your game up'

The "next man up" mentality was in full effect on Sunday for the Carolina Panthers. After the team saw star linebacker Luke Kuechly leave the game with a concussion, it was time for the rest of the group to step up and do their part. No player knew that better than LB Thomas Davis, according to David Newton of ESPN.

"You lose one of the best players in the NFL, you've got to turn your game up," outside linebacker Thomas Davis told ESPN.

Not only did Davis tally a sack and an interception after Kuechly left the game, but cornerback Josh Norman pulled down an interception and took it in for a touchdown as well. The defensive unit for Carolina showing the ability to step up without Kuechly was simply huge on Sunday, and may have made the difference between a win and a loss.
