Seahawks add depth by re-signing RB Christine Michael

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 4:55 p.m. ET

RENTON, Wash. (AP) The Seattle Seahawks have added depth at running back by re-signing Christine Michael after he had a strong performance at the end of last season.

Seattle announced the signing Thursday. Michael had been a restricted free agent at the end of last season but was not tendered a contract. The sides were able to reach agreement on a new deal that gives Seattle additional options in the backfield after the retirement of Marshawn Lynch.

Michael was traded from Seattle to Dallas at the end of training camp last season, but never found a role with the Cowboys. He was briefly with Washington before being released and re-signed by Seattle in December after Thomas Rawls was lost for the season with an ankle injury. The former second-round pick of the Seahawks started two regular-season games and one playoff game for Seattle, including a 102-yard rushing performance against Arizona in Week 17.
