Rams' WR Austin in walking boot, questionable vs. Saints
Rookie wide receiver Tavon Austin was in a walking boot at practice and is questionable for the St. Louis Rams' game against the New Orleans Saints.
Cornerback Janoris Jenkins (back), guard Harvey Dahl (knee) and running back Daryl Richardson (thigh) also are questionable for Sunday.
Coach Jeff Fisher declined to elaborate Friday about Austin's chances of playing.
Austin injured his left ankle at the end of a 56-yard run that set up the Rams' lone touchdown last week at Arizona. Fellow rookie Stedman Bailey, Austin's teammate at West Virginia, could get increased playing time if Austin can't go.
Bailey was a third-round pick, two rounds after Austin was taken with the eighth overall selection. He caught 114 passes his senior season in college but didn't get his first NFL reception until Week 9.
Bailey had three receptions for 46 yards last week and has eight catches overall with a 15.4-yard average. He's also second on the team with seven special teams tackles.
"I feel it's helped a lot, my willingness to go out there and try to make plays," Bailey said. "I want to make plays no matter where I am, no matter what."
Jenkins has started every game at right cornerback. Rookie Brandon McGee, a fifth-round pick, could start at that spot.
