Pink isn't a color you normally associate with the NFL, but on Sunday it was the color of the day.

In partnership with the American Cancer Society, the NFL is conducting a breast cancer awareness campaign throughout October.

Sunday's games were the first in which players, coaches, referees and cheerleaders wore pink apparel to raise awareness for the campaign, dubbed "A Crucial Catch," which emphasizes the importance of annual screenings, especially for women who are over the age of 40.

There also were on-field pink ribbon stencils and special K-balls and pink coins. They, along with all game-worn apparel, are to be auctioned off at NFL Auction, with proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society and team charities.
