Fairley thinks the Rams is a 'great fit' for him

Nick Fairley was one of the biggest offseason signings for the St. Louis Rams. Even though the Rams are bringing back all 11 starters on defense, Fairley will be welcomed depth to the position.

Fairley missed half of the 2014 season with a knee injury, but is feeling healthy this offseason and is happy to be in St. Louis.

“Everything is going great,” Fairley said, via the Rams official website. “The first day out there with the guys and being able to run and lift weights, I enjoyed it and I’m still enjoying it. I feel like it is a great fit for me.”

Fairley knows the expectations are high with the Rams on the defensive side of the ball. They are widely considered to have one of the best defensive fronts in football and Fairley is embracing all the pressure.

“It feels good, it’s a good challenge to have everyone putting everything on us,” Fairley said. “I think we are going to meet and go above our expectations. We have high expectations for ourselves, and we’ve got some animals up there that are going to get after it out there. And we can’t wait.”

Fairley does not know his exact role on the D-line yet, but knows that the Rams are so deep, that whether he is with the first unit or the second unit, there shouldn't be much of a drop off.

“I would say being able to rotate was our big thing in Detroit and right here is the same thing,” Fairley said. “There won’t be a letdown when the second unit comes in.”
