Indianapolis Colts All Pro linebacker Robert Mathis is still recovering from an Achilles tear.

Some expected the 2013 sack champion to not be back until November, but in an interview with Bill Polian on Serius XM NFL Radio, Mathis has a different plan.

“It’s not going as fast as I would like to but we are getting well and we should be clicking in camp. That’s my plan unless you’ve heard anything else,” Mathis told Polian.

Mathis might have been talking about the comment Colts owner Jim Irsay made a few weeks ago saying the former All Pro might not be ready for game action until November. But Mathis plans on being ready by July.

That would be a big boost to the Colts pass rushing attack. Along with Erik Walden, Jonathon Newsome, and newcomer Trent Cole, the Colts plan to have one of the best pass rushing attacks in the league.

Even if Mathis will be 34 this coming season, when pairing him with the rotation of Newsome, Cole, and Walden, he should be back to his Pro Bowl form by the time the season starts.
