The NBA is trying to soften Denver's home-court advantage
For many years, the Denver Nuggets enjoyed one of the best home-court advantages in the league.
Due to the high altitude and mile-high air, visiting teams often struggle to adjust and run out of gas much earlier than the Nuggets. The fast-paced style the Nuggets employ only helps bolster that natural advantage.
But the NBA is taking steps to reduce that advantage by changing the way Nuggets home games are scheduled.

"I didn't like it when I had to come here," said first-year Nuggets coach Michael Malone. "But I love it now."
But not for long. The NBA already has taken action to reduce that advantage through altered scheduling such as making Denver the first stop coming from the east or putting a day off between the games for teams coming from the west.
"It's been a point of contention to where they've cut it down," Malone said.
