Report: Hawks nominate coach Budenholzer for Executive of the Year

Published Apr. 13, 2015 12:47 p.m. ET

With general manager Danny Ferry on an indefinite leave of absence after his racially insensitive remarks about Luol Deng this offseason, the Atlanta Hawks submitted coach Mike Budenholzer's name for award consideration, per a report from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Budenholzer has acted as the Hawks' GM this season in Ferry's absence, but he's not about to take the credit for Atlanta's fantastic season and the roster that got it there, according to ESPN.com's Kevin Arnovitz.

"Anyone who has followed the Hawks for the last two or three years knows that Danny Ferry is the executive that's most responsible for the makeup of our team," Budenholzer said.
