The newest Warrior Kevin Durant made an appearance at Drake’s show at Oracle Arena. KD should start getting used to that crowd roaring for him.

Kevin Durant made a significant career decision by moving from Oklahoma City to the Bay Area. The Golden State Warriors clearly offered him a better basketball situation. But they also gave him an atmosphere with opportunities that OKC just couldn’t.

On his hit album Views, rapper Drake dropped the line “A lot of people just hit me up when my name is mentioned/Shout out to K.D., we relate, we get the same attention” on the song “Weston Road Flows.” Durant admitted that it was very cool and shocking to hear his favorite rapper mention his name. Clearly, there’s a mutual respect there.

Drake is currently on his “Revenge Tour” with Future and the Six God isn’t playing. Say what you want about him as a person or his lyrical content and style, but you can’t deny that he knows how to put on a show. He’s an entertainer. And he knows how to really connect with crowds.

At every stop on his tour, the Champagne Papi has brought out celebrities relevant to that region. In Detroit, he brought out Eminem. In Cleveland, he brought out LeBron James. In Oakland, he brought out a new fan-favorite: Kevin Durant.

The former-MVP went on stage and soaked in the roar from the Oracle Arena crowd. It’s time he started getting used to that. He seems to be handling it well.

Durant hasn’t been in the Bay Area long yet he’s already making the most of his opportunities. Just last week, he was present at Apple’s big conference in which CEO Tim Cook talked about the latest projects and updates for their company. He got a front row seat to see how the tech world works.

And last night, he got to hang out with the biggest rapper on the planet in what has become his new home arena. There will be many nights where Durant steals the show at Oracle. This was definitely one of them.

These are opportunities that he wouldn’t have had if he had stayed a member of the Thunder. Drake’s tour does not have a stop in Oklahoma City, but he does perform in the Bay Area on two separate occasions–two shoes in Oakland and two shoes in San Jose. It’s nice to see KD is fitting in just fine.
