Torre will decide future in a month

Published Jul. 21, 2010 1:55 a.m. ET

Joe Torre says he'll decide in the next month or so whether to continue his managerial career with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

He turned 70 on Sunday, but Torre says age won't have any bearing in his decision. The Dodgers' results might, though. They took a five-game skid into Tuesday night's game against San Francisco and remain winless since the All-Star break. They're a season-high-tying six games behind NL West-leading San Diego.

Torre says if the team keeps losing it might not be his choice whether he returns or not. He's in the third and final year of his contract and earlier told the club he wanted to postpone discussions about a possible extension.
