Tigers call up Ruffin

The Detroit Tigers brought up right-handed reliever Chance Ruffin, a first-round pick in the 2010 draft, from Triple-A Toledo on Monday.

To make room for Ruffin, Lester Oliveros had been optioned to Toledo on Sunday night. To clear a spot on the 40-man roster, injured pitcher Brad Thomas was transferred to the 60-day disabled list.

Detroit selected the contract of Ruffin who had not been in the 40-man roster.
