Swing and a miss! Texas' Andrus flails at pitchout, but gets last laugh

Elvis Andrus will do anything he can to help his teammates. Even if it involves attempting one of the most embarrassing swings of the season.
The Texas Rangers shortstop put his pride on the line in the ninth inning of Monday night’s contest against Oakland when he flailed at a pitchout from A’s pitcher Dan Otero.
Andrus had good reason to swing, as teammate Michael Choice was stealing on the play in an attempted hit-and-run. When the pitch is more than a foot off the plate, though, it’s difficult to make contact and maintain any sort of balance.
In Andrus’ case, he did neither. To Andrus’ credit, Choice made it safely into second anyways when catcher John Jaso’s throw sailed way off target. Our guess is that Jaso was too busy laughing at Andrus to make an accurate throw.
It would be the Rangers who got the last laugh in the end, as they hung on for a 4-3 victory to improve to 12-8 on the season.
