Sources: Rangers on verge of trading for Brewers' Yovani Gallardo

The Texas Rangers are on the verge of trading for Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Yovani Gallardo, sources tell FOX Sports MLB insiders Ken Rosenthal and Jon Paul Morosi.
Gallardo, 28, went 8-11 last year over 32 starts for Milwaukee. He recorded 146 strikeouts in 192-1/3 innings and a 3.51 ERA.

Yovani Gallardo went to high school in Fort Worth, so #Rangers stand good chance to sign him long-term.

If #Brewers trade Gallardo to #Rangers, it could signal run at Shields, as @Joelsherman1 said. Get prospects for Gallardo, a potential FA…

…then go heavy on Shields. Strategy would be not unlike Lohse signing in ’13. #Brewers waited out market. Owner Attanasio always aggressive.

Sources: #Rangers offered IF Luis Sardinas in several deals this off-season. Possible he is one of players heading to #Brewers for Gallardo.

Also: #Brewers likely want Nelson in rotation even if they get vet to replace Gallardo. Would not include him in trade for Price last July.
