Jose Reyes will miss the All-Star game with a sore left side after leaving the New York Mets' 4-0 loss to Atlanta.

The shortstop ranged far to his right Saturday to field a seventh-inning grounder by Troy Glaus on the outfield grass, then turned and made a long throw to first base for the out.

Third baseman David Wright immediately noticed that Reyes was ailing and summoned manager Jerry Manuel from the dugout. Reyes confirmed the injury was to his left side, which has been hurting for more than a week and has limited the switch-hitter to batting from the right side.

Reyes has been hampered by a sore left side that has limited the switch hitter to batting from the right side. He had an MRI exam before the series against Atlanta that came back negative.

Reyes plans to join his family in Anaheim, Calif., for the All-Star game on Tuesday but will not play. The Mets hope to have him back when they begin the second half at San Francisco.
