NL batting leader Jose Reyes has been lifted for a pinch runner after bunting for a base hit in his first at-bat of the New York Mets' final game of the season.

The hit off Cincinnati's Edinson Volquez raised Reyes' average .337057, 2 1-2 points higher than Milwaukee's Ryan Braun.

Braun entered Milwaukee's regular-season finale against Pittsburgh on Wednesday night hitting .334525. Braun could win the NL batting title by going 3 for 4, which would raise his average to .337478.

The modest crowd booed the decision to pull Reyes in the first inning of what could be his final game with the Mets. He is set to become a free agent after the World Series.
