Reports: Dodgers' Billingsley to have season-ending elbow surgery

Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Chad Billingsley will have season-ending surgery on his pitching elbow, according to multiple reports. 

The procedure will repair a partially torn flexor tendon.

Billingsley, who was on a minor-league rehab assignment when he experienced the discomfort, made only two starts during the 2013 season before having Tommy John surgery on the same elbow. He hasn'€™t pitched in the majors this season.

"I'm flustered," Billingsley told the Dodgers'€™ website. "This is not the way I wanted to spend two years of my life in rehab."

Billingsley, 29, was a first-round pick by the Dodgers in 2003 and is 81-61 with a 3.65 ERA in eight major-league seasons. He is in the final guaranteed season of a three-year, $35 million contract.
