Report: Manny tested in Triple-A

Published Jul. 13, 2013 1:00 a.m. ET

It didn’t take long for Manny Ramirez to be tested.

According to Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News, Ramirez and his Triple-A Round Rock teammates were given drug tests in Manny’s first week with the club. No results from the drug tests have been announced, but results would only be made public if a player tested positive for a banned substance.

With that in mind, it appears that Ramirez may have passed his first test. Ramirez, who recently signed a minor league deal with the Rangers, has failed two performance-enhancing drug tests in the past. He was suspended 50 games for violating baseball’s drug policy in 2009, and he was suspended following another violation in 2011.

Major League Baseball clearly has a big issue on its hands when it comes to the ongoing Biogenesis scandal, so it’s understandable that the league is being vigilant, especially with a two-time offender trying to make his way back to The Show.
