Report: Key witness in Stow case dies
A key witness in the beating of San Francisco Giants fan Bryan Stow has died after suffering an apparent allergic food reaction, the Los Angeles Times reported Monday.
Law enforcement officials told the Times Matthew Lee died Sunday after eating a salad containing nuts, which triggered the allergic reaction.
An official cause of death has yet to be determined.
Sources told the Times Lee went to the Opening Day game at Dodger Stadium with Stow and was considered an important witness to the savage attack.
Prosecutors allege Louie Sanchez, 29, and Marvin Norwood, 30, of Rialto, Calif., assaulted Stow -- a 42-year-old paramedic and father-of-two -- in the stadium parking lot on March 31.
Court records allege the men "did cut and disable the tongue, and put out an eye and slit the nose, ear and lip" of Stow, who remains hospitalized in serious condition.
