Reds' Phillips misses game due to 'family matter'

Published Apr. 13, 2013 6:51 p.m. ET

Cincinnati second baseman Brandon Phillips will miss Saturday night's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates because of what Reds manager Dusty Baker termed a ''family matter.''

Baker said Phillips might also miss Sunday's game, the finale of the three-game series.

Phillips hit two home runs Friday as the Reds lost to the Pirates 6-5. He is hitting .318 with team-leading four homers and 10 RBIs in 10 games.

Cesar Izturis was scheduled to play second base Saturday night.
