Reds' Hamilton beats out routine grounder to first

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 2:37 p.m. ET

Billy Hamilton is one of the fastest players in baseball, and he hasn't hesitated to show it so far this season.

The latest edition of Hamilton using his legs to help his team came on Monday against the Chicago Cubs, when he turned a routine ground ball to first base into a base hit.

The Cubs helped Hamilton out with a very Cubs-esque play, with Carlos Villanueva hesitating on his way toward the bag, leaving no one for first baseman Anthony Rizzo to toss the ball to.

Regardless of any woeful fielding problems the Cubs might have exhibited, Hamilton still made it from the batter's box to first base in under four seconds.
