Reds acquire Mattheus

The Reds added some pitching depth on Wednesday as they claimed Ryan Mattheus off waivers, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Mattheus went 0-2 with a 2.84 ERA in Triple-A Salt Lake this season. He appeared in one game with the Angels and struck

The right-hander spent the 2011-14 seasons with the Washington Nationals and posted a 3.60 in 142 1/3 total innings.
