Red Sox hitting coach Colbrunn rejoins team

BOSTON (AP) Red Sox hitting coach Greg Colbrunn has rejoined the staff Monday after being hospitalized earlier in the month.

The 44-year-old Colbrunn was hospitalized on June 4 when the club was in Cleveland because of bleeding between the brain and the thin tissues that cover it. He was admitted to Cleveland Clinic after experiencing dizziness before a game against the Indians.

''Talking and finding out more about it, neurosurgeons and doctors told me go home and rest, but once you're starting to feel better maybe you can get back doing what you normally do and the quicker the recovery will be,'' he said before Boston hosted the Chicago Cubs.

Colbrunn said he spent two weeks in Cleveland before going home to Charleston, South Carolina, to rest.

Tim Hyers, Boston's minor league hitting coordinator, has been filling in for Colbrunn. Hyers will remain with the staff until Colbrunn builds up stamina.
