Rangers sign Harris to minor league deal

The Texas Rangers have signed veteran infielder Brendan Harris to a minor league contract and assigned him to Triple-A Round Rock.
Harris signed with the Rangers on Wednesday, after being released earlier in the day from his minor league deal with the New York Yankees.
He will not be on Texas' 40-man roster.
After beginning the season on the Los Angeles Angels' opening day roster, he was designated for assignment July 20.
He was outrighted to Triple-A Salt Lake on July 23, but refused the assignment and elected free agency. He signed with the Yankees three days later.
Harris is a career .256 hitter over 529 big league games with the Chicago Cubs (2004), Montreal/Washington (2004-06), Cincinnati (2006), Tampa Bay (2007), Minnesota (2008-10), and the Angels.
