The Philadelphia Phillies have re-signed right-hander Jose Contreras, agreeing Monday to a $5.5 million, two-year contract that includes a club option for 2013.

Contreras gets $2.5 million in each of the next two seasons, and the Phillies hold a $2.5 million club option for 2013 with a $500,000 buyout.

The 38-year-old was a key member in the bullpen for the four-time NL East champion Phillies in his first season as a full-time reliever.

He was 6-4 with four saves and a 3.34 ERA in 67 games in his first season with the Phillies. Contreras went 1-0 and threw four scoreless innings in the postseason.
