BALTIMORE (AP) Orioles setup man Darren O'Day has been put on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring.

Baltimore manager Buck Showalter says O'Day was feeling tenderness in his hamstring before aggravating the injury Wednesday night while covering first base.

The move was made Friday. The Orioles recalled pitcher Mike Wright from Triple-A Norfolk to fill out the roster.

O'Day is 2-1 with 3.15 ERA and two saves in 22 games.

Showalter expressed hope that O'Day's stay on the DL will not last beyond 15 days.

The manager said, ''I'm cautiously optimistic about that.''

Wright was optioned to Norfolk on Thursday after giving up four homers on Wednesday in a start against the Red Sox.

Asked to define Wright's role, Showalter said, ''That hasn't been decided yet.''
