The Washington Nationals say Major League Baseball's Department of Investigations is working with ''the appropriate authorities'' on the case of Wilson Ramos, a player abducted in Venezuela.
In their first statement about Ramos, issued Thursday, the Nationals say the team and MLB ''have been instructed to make no further comment.''
The team says its ''foremost concern is with Wilson Ramos and his family and our thoughts are with them at this time.''
Ramos is a 24-year-old catcher who just finished his rookie season with the Nationals. He was seized from his home in the town of Santa Ines by armed men Wednesday night.

Officials said Thursday they found the vehicle used by the kidnappers in a nearby town and were gathering evidence.
