MLB Affiliates Florida State League Announce Award Winners


More MLB Minor League All-Star teams were announced in the last week. Who received the honors?
We mentioned the award winners for a number of leagues earlier in the article you’ll see linked at the end of this article. Today, we’ll look at the high-A Florida State League, announced Thursday. As we wrap up all the end of season announcements by the league, we will let you know that at Call To The Pen, we will be bringing you a top prospect list from each league in September/October, so be looking for that!
Florida State League
Aristides Aquino was voted the MVP of the league after hitting .274/.329/.518 with 26 doubles, 12 triples, 22 home runs, and 10 stolen bases. Luis Castillo was voted the pitcher of the year after going 8-4 in 23 appearances (21 starts) and hurling 117 2/3 innings before his promotion to AA with a 2.07 ERA and 0.96 WHIP. Pat Osborn of Tampa was selected manager of the year after leading his squad to a first-half division title and second-best record overall on the season.
