Mets OF Jay Bruce leaves with calf cramp

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 2:46 p.m. ET

ST. LOUIS (AP) New York Mets right fielder Jay Bruce made an early exit Wednesday night against St. Louis because of a cramp in his right calf.

The Mets said he came out in the second inning as a precaution.

Bruce led off the inning with an opposite-field double to shallow right. With one out, he was replaced by pinch-runner Alejandro De Aza.

Bruce began the night hitting .158 in 20 games since being acquired in a trade from Cincinnati.
