Men charged in spring training burglary
A second arrest was made Thursday in connection to the March break-in and burglary of the Florida home rented by three Tampa Bay Rays players during spring training.
Florida detectives arrested 19-year-old David Kimo Rufino for his alleged involvement in the burglary of the Port Charlotte, Fla., home rented by Rays' starters Evan Longoria, David Price and Reid Brignac, MLB.com reported.
Rufino was charged with armed burglary of an unoccupied dwelling, grand theft and dealing in stolen property, according to the report.
Rufino's arrest came one day after police picked up Steven Charles Vaughn for his alleged involvement in the March 26 break-in, which took place while the Rays players were participating in a spring game.
Vaughn, 22, and Rufino are accused of stealing more than $60,000 worth of goods from the players' rented home.
A 60-inch flat screen TV, three iPads and two Xboxes were taken in the heist, while Price reportedly lost a laptop and several high-value watches stored in a bag of clothes. Longoria's AK-47 rifle also was taken in the burglary.
Vaughn, described by police as a longtime criminal, was already in the county jail on unrelated charges when he was charged Wednesday, according to the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.
