Marlins mess up collectible ticket

Published Oct. 2, 2013 1:00 a.m. ET

The Miami Marlins aren’t even playing anymore this season, and they’ve still found a way to mess things up.

The team announced that it would be selling 9,100 unsold tickets for its season finale on Sept. 29, 2013, when Henderson Alvarez threw a walk-off no-hitter at Marlins Park. Not entirely unheard of, the commemorative ticket sale made some sense — until the team put the wrong date on the $15 collectibles.

The folks over at Deadspin have obtained a screenshot of one of the commemorative PDF tickets (yes, the team is charging $15 for an unusable PDF), and the date on the ticket is Sunday, Oct. 3, 2013 (a date that doesn’t even exist).

The 62-100 Marlins certainly won’t be playing any October baseball this year, but check out the photo below to see the ticket claiming that they will be.
